Set off early for the ancient sacred city of Anuradhapura, the first capital of Sri Lanka. Explore its magnificent landmarks including the great stupas of Ruwanweliseya and Abhayagiriya, the serene Samadhi Buddha statue, the revered Aukana Buddha and the remarkable ancient irrigation systems that sustained this great civilization. In the evening, ascend Mihintale, widely regarded as the cradle of Buddhism in Sri Lanka.

Anuradhapura to Habarana

Polonnaruwa → Habarana

After breakfast, head to the ancient medieval capital of Polonnaruwa for a wonderful cycling adventure through its beautifully preserved Buddhist and Hindu archaeological sites, including the magnificent Gal Vihara rock sculptures. In the afternoon, embark on an exciting jeep safari in Minneriya National Park, where herds of wild elephants, water buffaloes, crocodiles and a wonderful variety of bird species await.

Habarana to Kandy

Sigiriya → Dambulla → Kandy

Begin the day with a visit to the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continue to the magnificent Rangiri Dambulla Cave Temple before journeying on to the cultural capital of Kandy. Explore the Royal Botanical Garden in Peradeniya, take a fun tuk-tuk ride around Kandy Lake and attend a traditional Pooja ceremony at the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic. End the evening with a vibrant Kandyan cultural dance show.

Spend a full day further exploring the beautiful city of Kandy. Hop on a tuk-tuk after breakfast to wander through the bustling streets and visit the iconic Royal Botanical Garden in Peradeniya. In the evening, witness another mesmerizing Kandyan cultural dance performance and attend the Pooja ceremony at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.

Kandy to Nuwara Eliya

Journey up into the cool misty highlands of Nuwara Eliya, lovingly known as the Little England of Sri Lanka. Visit a working tea plantation and factory to witness the fascinating art of Ceylon tea production from leaf to cup. Explore the town's iconic landmarks including the historic post office, the beautiful Victoria Park and the peaceful Gregory Lake. Round off the day with a classic high tea experience at The Grand Hotel.

07Day

Nuwara Eliya to Yala

Horton Plains → Ella → Yala

Head out for an adventurous hike through the breathtaking Horton Plains National Park, taking in the dramatic views from the World's End cliff and visiting the charming Bakers Falls tucked within the cloud forest. Continue the journey through Ella towards Yala, enjoying the scenic natural beauty along the way. Arrive at Yala in the evening and enjoy a memorable BBQ dinner in the heart of the wilderness.

Yala to Beruwala

Yala → Galle → Beruwala

Rise early for a thrilling morning jeep safari through Yala National Park, renowned for its leopards, elephants, crocodiles and spectacular birdlife. Continue towards the beautiful southern coast and the beach town of Beruwala. En route, stop to explore the magnificent Galle Dutch Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Spend a wonderful leisurely day relaxing on the sun-drenched Beruwala beach. In the evening visit a sea turtle hatchery for an up close and heartwarming experience with these incredible marine creatures. Also pay a visit to the impressive Kande Viharaya, home to a towering Buddha statue that watches over the southern coastline.

Beruwala to Colombo

Beruwala → Colombo

Make your way to Sri Lanka's vibrant and colorful capital city of Colombo. En route, enjoy a scenic boat ride along the beautiful Madu River. Upon arrival in Colombo, explore some of the city's most iconic landmarks including the Gangarama Temple, the National Museum and the grand Independence Square. Round off the day with some shopping at Colombo's lively local markets.
